The Sonoran Dogs burst onto the Arizona music scene in 2011, originally coming together for a special run of performances with acclaimed Japanese guitarist Maro Kawabata. What began as a one-time collaboration quickly evolved into one of the Southwest’s most exciting acoustic ensembles, carrying their high-energy sound from the deserts of Arizona to audiences across the American West, Australia, and New Zealand.

Rooted in bluegrass tradition but never confined by it, The Sonoran Dogs have forged a dynamic and unmistakable style that seamlessly blends hard-driving traditional tunes, progressive influences, and compelling original music. Their performances showcase virtuosic musicianship, rich vocal harmonies, and an adventurous spirit that keeps audiences captivated from the first note to the last.

At the heart of the band is award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist Peter McLaughlin, winner of the 1988 Winfield National Flatpicking Guitar Championship and widely respected for his masterful picking and songwriting. Arizona native Mark Miracle brings soaring lead and harmony vocals alongside exceptional mandolin work, adding depth and character to the band's sound. Banjo powerhouse Tyler James, the 2008 RockyGrass Banjo Champion and a finalist at the 2012 Winfield National Banjo Championships, injects dazzling musicianship and infectious energy into every performance. Completing the lineup is Joelle Tambe-Ebot, whose driving bass, expressive vocals, and seamless harmonies add a fresh and vibrant dimension to the group.

Whether performing a timeless bluegrass standard, an inventive instrumental, or an original composition, The Sonoran Dogs deliver a thrilling musical experience that honors tradition while fearlessly exploring new territory. Their combination of world-class musicianship, heartfelt songwriting, and electrifying live performances continues to win fans wherever the road takes them.
