The Program:
A convergence of Chicago's finest creative jazz minds, bridging heritage and
modern innovation.
The first half of the concert pays tribute to the timeless artistry of Billie Holiday,
featuring selections from the ensemble's acclaimed album, It's Too Hot for
Words.
Following intermission, Dee Alexander's originality takes center stage with a
program of her compositions, showcasing her captivating artistry, expressive
voice, and boundless creativity.

About the Artists:
The Metropolitan Jazz Octet is the reawakening of a group founded in the
1950s. The ensemble is comprised of Chicago’s most compelling musicians and
arrangers.
Dee Alexander stands as one of Chicago’s most celebrated jazz vocalists,
embodying what the Chicago Tribune calls “fearless innovation, respect for
tradition, and irrepressible creativity.”
