Sunday Sound Trip is a 3 dimensional, 360 degree immersive experience. Helmed by the Red Room Orchestra’s Marc Capelle, and Emmy award winning sound designer and inventor Ken Pearce from Open Field Sound. The program features new compositions and solo piano and sonics from Capelle, Gong by master musician Karen Stackpole, visuals and recordings from DJ Lead Teddy, and spoken word from from New York based writer/spoken word artiist Amanda Duarte-- all processed through the Open Field system.


Not a sound bath, but a sound trip  the show offers a once in a lifetime transformative super-liminal visual and aural experience. Prepare yourself to be awed, amazed and transported.



Marc Capelle

San Francisco native Marc Capelle is a musician, composer, arranger, and producer.


He cofounded the Red Room Orchestra, who most recently has collaborated with Mark Mothersbaugh, in 2017, and is the leader of Marc & the Casuals a soul/pop revue. He has performed and recorded with American Music Club, Tommy Guerrero, Virgil Shaw, The West Coast Corinthians, Margaret Cho, The Kids in the Hall, Rodriguez, andThird Eye Blind, and is the musical director for the Porchlight Storytelling series.


Since 1994 he has composed music for film, commercials, public space and toys..


He is currently producing a documentary about trappist monk and author, Thomas Merton.


Karen Stackpole

Drummer/percussionist Karen Stackpole has a long-standing passion for gongs. In her exploration of metals, she has cultivated some distinctive techniques for drawing harmonics out of tam tams with various implements. She specializes in dynamic soundscapes and textures and has contributed gong sounds to more conventional musical genres as well as contributing source material for film soundtracks. In addition to solo work, she performs and records with various projects including Machine Shop: Live Amplified Gong Experience (a duo with electronics master, Drew Webster), Sabbiticus Rex, Ghost in the House, Vorticella, the Francis Wong Unit, and the rock band Steel Hotcakes. Most recently her work has focused on duet performances and recordings with experimental instrument builder Krys Bobrowski (Gliss Glass Gong), contrabassist Bill Noertker (Talking Frog), and guitarist extraordinaire Fred Frith.


Amanda Duarte

Amanda Duarte is a NY-based writer-performer currently vibrating in carbon and recently seen as a perineum in Snatch Adams and Tainty McCracken Present It's That Time of the Month at Soho Rep (Obie Award). Other shows include Staying Alive and Adrienne Truscott's Asking For It at Joe's Pub and the long-running cult favorite Dead Darlings (Absolute Best Reading Series in New York- NY Mag) at Judson, currently enjoying a renaissance in Kingston, New York. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the New Yorker, Time Out New York, Town and Country and High Times, among others. She is proud to be included in the Museum of Hoaxes for her work with Mike Albo on the "Hurt Locker: The Musical" Playbill for Hedwig on Broadway, and to be an Oxford Word of the Year nominee for #PussyGrabsBack.

Teddy Kuhn/ Lead Teddy is a conceptual artist living and working in San Francisco working in multiple disciplines including the medium of sound as record, raw material and remedy.


Ken Pearce

Ken Pearce is a San Francisco-based immersive sound designer who builds portable spatial audio systems and collaborates with artists, scientists, nature recordists, and composers to construct visceral sonic experiences. After developing soundscapes for venues like SXSW, the National Geographic Museum, and the Wellstar Hospital Chain, Ken founded Open Field Sound to create opportunities for people to experience immersive audio in smaller, more contemplative spaces; to compose their own soundscapes; and to use the emotional impact of those soundscapes in the service of the arts, science communication, education, and health & wellness. Ken has also received a Primetime Emmy Award for broadcast design, and a Scientific and Technical Achievement Award from the Motion Picture Academy for facial motion capture used in

over 20 major motion pictures. He was the head of Software Development at PDI/Dreamworks for the production of “Shrek” and other animated films, and is the co-inventor of 5 patents for immersive audio and animation.
