7PM Doors | 8PM Show | 21+
Somewhere between a front-porch country sermon, a backwoods punk howl, and a dancehall stomp, Nick Shoulders has carved out one of the most original sounds in American roots music right now. Hailing from Arkansas, Shoulders blends deep traditional country influences with yodeling, whistling, sharp songwriting, and a wild streak that feels both old as dirt and completely alive in the present. His recent catalog includes Refugia Blues and the single “Apocalypse Never,” which continue to push his mix of country roots, outsider spirit, and singular showmanship.
The Apocalypse, Never! Tour pulls its name from that same song and lands in Tacoma with a lineup that feels especially stacked thanks to direct support from Kassi Valazza. Valazza has built a serious following with her hazy, beautifully worn songwriting, first breaking through with Dear Dead Days and Kassi Valazza Knows Nothing, then following it with 2025’s From Newman Street. Her music carries a kind of dusty, dreamlike pull — country-folk with a poet’s touch, equal parts ache, drift, and clarity.
If you’ve never seen Nick Shoulders live, expect way more than a standard country set. This is the kind of show that can go from lonesome and beautiful to rowdy and unhinged in a heartbeat — heartfelt songs, unfiltered personality, old-school musical chops, and a voice that sounds like it blew in from another century and decided to raise hell in this one. With Kassi Valazza opening the night, this bill brings together two of the most compelling artists working in country and folk’s weirder, wilder, more human corners.
Tacoma, this one’s for the folks who like their country music a little stranger, a little sharper, and a whole lot more alive.
