Heather Anne Lomax

There are moments in an artist’s journey when instinct, timing, and inspiration align. For Heather Anne Lomax, that moment arrived on stage at The Troubadour. Fresh off the release of her last record, she slipped into a couple of rock tunes by the Broken Homes—and something clicked. It felt like kismet. That spark became the foundation for her latest project: a deeply collaborative, soul-driven Rock and Roll record that fuses Blues, Rock, and Soul into something timeless yet unmistakably her own.

Recorded live at Love Street Sound Studios in Los Angeles, the album embraces the raw, unfiltered energy that defined classic 1970s recordings. The sessions capture the electricity and passion driven performances. Produced by Zachary Ross (Rose’s Pawn Shop), mixed by Jason Hiller (The Freewheelers) and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, YES, Halford, Def Leppard).

An extraordinary group of musicians whose collective experience spans genres and generations gave extraordinary performances: Jason Hiller (Freewheelers) on bass and mixing, drummers—Rob Humphries (Kacey Musgraves, Leonard Cohen, Jason Mraz), Jordan West (Grace Potter), David Goodstein (Jackson Browne, Dolly Parton), and Jamie Douglas (Shooter Jennings, Samantha Fish). Keys: Ty Bailie (Katy Perry, Tanya Tucker), Jerry Borge (Ziggy Marley), and Carey Frank (Bruce Springsteen, Tedeschi Trucks Band). Guitars: Zachary Ross and Heather Anne Lomax. Flute: Fuzzbee Morse (Bono, Peter Gabriel) and Lily Elise (Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus) and Mary Scholz.

Drawing inspiration from the energy of classic rock bands, the album channels a familiar spirit while maintaining a distinct voice. All songs are original compositions, with one special exception: a cover written by Heather’s late friend Michael Doman of the Broken Homes.

She has opened for: Jeff Bridges, John Hiatt, Richie Furay, Don McLean, The Marshall Tucker Band, Joan Osborne, Melanie, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and many more.

Her artistry is "rooted in emotional honesty. Heather conjures something raw and deeply human in her music"—creating space for listeners to step into a shared catharsis." (Music Makers) As she describes it, her work is ultimately meant to be “a vehicle of catharsis,” inviting others to feel, process, and express.

Her 2020 release, All This Time, earned critical acclaim from outlets including Glide Magazine, American Songwriter, The Bluegrass Situation, and Music Connection, drawing inspiration from the life and recordings of Elvis Presley. Her earlier record, Heavy Load, released under her adopted name Michael-Ann, was named one of the Top 10 Americana records from Los Angeles and earned Robert Oermann’s “DisCovery of the Week” award in Music Row Magazine. She has also been recognized among the Top 10 Americana Artists by Turnstyle Junkpiled and featured across numerous publications including American Songwriter, LA Music Examiner, Music News Nashville, and Lonesome Highway.

Abby Posner

Abby Posner is a genre-defying multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer originally from the mountains of Colorado. Recently featured on NPR’s Mountain Stage, Posner captivates audiences with a dynamic sound that blends haunting folk with high-energy Americana and infectious, foot-stomping anthems. Think Chris Thile meets The Lumineers—raw, powerful, and irresistibly engaging.

With music featured across major platforms including Hulu, Netflix, The CW, Freeform, and countless commercials in the US and UK, Posner’s sonic fingerprint is both wide-reaching and instantly recognizable. Her music video Quiet on Sunset was featured on CMT, and she has scored four documentaries, including the award-winning Lady Buds.

A standout performer, Posner has graced the stage at prestigious events like the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival (2024), AmericanaFest (2023), and Folk Alliance International (2022 & 2024). She also appeared in Bank of America’s national ad campaign for Ken Burns’ Country Music documentary, performing “Wagon Wheel” alongside Dom Flemons and Amythyst Kiah.

Her song “Get Loud,” co-written with Ships Have Sailed, earned the Grand Prize at the USA Songwriting Competition and has charted on pop radio, becoming the official hype anthem for the LA Kings hockey team. In 2020, she also won Best Song at the Topanga Fiddle Festival for her track “Blind Spots.”

Signed to Blackbird Record Label in 2022, Posner continues to tour nationally in support of her latest album, Second Chances—a testament to her evolution as a boundary-pushing artist unafraid to blend the personal with the powerful.

Deb Morrison

Deb Morrison’s solo debut album, The North Fork, (Sept 2022-Blackbird Record Label), is a melting-pot of American roots music, stocked with songs that blur the boundaries between alt-country, Americana, and roadhouse rock & roll. It's a genre-bending mix rooted in contemporary moves and classic influences, whipped into shape by a longtime traveler who's used to crossing borders.

The North Fork brings California to vivid life, filtering Morrison's songwriting through a prism of woozy West Coast sunshine, rolling hillsides, and the ghost-town desert landscapes that influenced so much of the album's creation. She sets the scene

with the record's very first line — "Driving I-80 from the Bay to Big Blue" — and fills the remaining songs with the same mix of cinematic storytelling and smoky, sultry delivery that has already earned comparisons to Neko Case. "Blackbird" is a self-empowered

battle cry set to a soundtrack of country-western atmospherics, while "Salton Sea" unfolds like a desert noir film, full of hazy pedal steel and deep Telecaster twang. "Chippin' Away" mixes slide guitar and bluesy vocal runs with its own hybrid of greasy,

dive bar funky-tonk.

“This album is like reading a paper trail I left for myself,” says Morrison, who spent her childhood on the move. The daughter of an Air Force Colonel, she grew up traveling the far-flung corners of the globe. Years later, that nomadic existence still influences

her music, with The North Fork unfolding like the pages of someone's road journal. “Moving all over the place was tumultuous and beautiful simultaneously," she explains. "I never really had a hometown because I was a military brat. I’m from everywhere

and nowhere at the same time.”

Even more influential than her travels were the roots — not only physical, but emotional and musical, too — that she planted while living with her family in Northern California. Those years left a lasting impression on the songwriter-to-be, and she eventually

decided to make the Golden State her home base. "Of all the places I’ve lived," she reflects, "nothing captured my heart and soul like the little river town of Folsom and the people in it." Appropriately,

The North Fork's title is a nod to the nostalgic town located at the convergence of the North and South Forks of the American River.

The North Fork marks a convergence in Morrison's own life, too. A longtime bass player and singer/songwriter, she cut her teeth in alt-rock bands like Daisychain and Swing before forming her own Americana band, Morrison & Company, in 2015. Morrison

also plays in The Wild West, an all-female supergroup featuring modern-day icons of Southern California's roots community.

The North Fork makes room for all of those influences, while also highlighting the evocative lyrics of a visually-minded songwriter. In addition to playing music she is a working photographer/videographer and produces Americana music series Prickly

Pear Presents, The California Country Show and The Buzz.

Produced by Nic Capelle of Rockton Road, The North Fork was recorded on the outskirts of Los Angeles with her Morrison & Company bandmates.
