Hartle Road + Hail, Maria! + Dream Journal
Saturday, November 21 | 8 PM
DJ Zac Ives throughout the night
Three bands, one night at Hernando’s Hide-A-Way, bringing together some of the more experimental sounds coming out of Memphis and the Mid-South.
Hartle Road comes up from Columbus, Mississippi with a mix of loud guitars, synths and off-kilter rock & roll built through years of house shows, warehouse parties, art openings and juke joints across the Southeast. Their latest record, Maxx II, lands somewhere between a house party and a jet engine - noisy, danceable and hard to pin down.
Hail, Maria! blends ’60s folk, Tropicalia, indie rock and western grooves into a sound all their own, led by singer/guitarist Michael Peery with plenty of room for guitarist Keith Cooper to let loose.
Dream Journal pairs the spoken word of artist Rachael Grant, reading directly from a literal dream journal, with atmospheric electric guitar soundscapes created live by musician Robby Grant.
And tying it all together, Goner Records owner and WYXR’s Box of Records host DJ Zac Ives will be spinning records before, between and maybe even after the bands.
