Since emerging in the mid-2000s, Doug Applin p/k/a Emancipator has become one of electronic music's most distinctive voices, known for blending downtempo beats, live instrumentation, and evocative melodies into immersive sonic landscapes. Through his independent label, Loci Records, he has cultivated a global community of listeners while continuing to push the boundaries between electronic, acoustic, and cinematic music.

In 2026 Emancipator returns with “Chrysalis” his first studio album in 6 years coming Spetmber 26th on his Loci Records imprint. Leading the chargeis the standout first single "The Painted Lady”, a breathtaking new collaboration with acclaimed singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Kishi Bashi which is out now.
